Balancing Work and Life as a Wife, Mom, and Realtor

by Contessa Rose

Being a wife, mom, and Realtor isn’t always easy—but it is absolutely worth it. Like so many working moms, I wear many hats throughout the day: business owner, client advocate, chauffeur to school activities, and (most importantly) mom. Balancing all of these roles can feel overwhelming at times, but with the right mindset and systems in place, it’s possible to succeed in your career while still being present for your family.

1. Set Boundaries (and Stick to Them)

In real estate, it can feel like you have to be “on” 24/7. Calls, texts, and emails come at all hours. But one of the best things I’ve learned is that setting boundaries doesn’t make you less available—it makes you more effective. My clients know I’m here to serve them wholeheartedly, but I also have dedicated family time where I step away from the phone. This helps me show up refreshed and focused in every area of my life.

2. Prioritize Your Calendar

Between showings, contracts, school pickups, and family dinners, a good calendar system is my lifeline. I schedule not only business appointments but also time for my family. Blocking out “non-negotiables” like school events or family nights ensures they don’t get lost in the shuffle of a busy week.

3. Embrace Flexibility

One of the reasons I chose real estate is because of the flexibility it gives me. While there are late-night negotiations and early morning showings, there are also mid-day breaks where I can attend a school event or have lunch with my husband. Instead of chasing a perfect balance, I focus on flexibility—shifting my time where it’s needed most.

4. Lean on Your Support System

Being a mom and wife doesn’t mean doing it all alone. I’m grateful for the support of my husband, family, and colleagues who step in when life gets hectic. Whether it’s tag-teaming bedtime with my spouse or collaborating with other agents, leaning on a strong support system helps keep everything moving smoothly.

5. Remember Your "Why"

At the end of the day, my “why” is simple—family. Real estate allows me to serve my community, help families find homes they love, and still create a life where I’m present for my daughter and my husband. On the hardest days, remembering that “why” makes it all worthwhile.

Final Thoughts

Balancing work, life, and motherhood is never about perfection—it’s about intention. By setting boundaries, staying organized, and embracing flexibility, you can thrive in your career while still cherishing the moments that matter most at home.

If you’re a fellow wife or mom considering buying or selling a home, I’d love to connect. I understand the challenges of juggling it all, and I’ll help make the real estate process as smooth and stress-free as possible—because your time is precious.
